Dr. Richard H. Bensimon is one of Portland, Oregon's most experienced plastic surgeons and Director of Plastic Surgery at Pearl Women's Center. Dr. Bensimon's groundbreaking work is not limited to facelifts. In 1995, he published one of the first articles on an innovative technique to improve breast reconstruction following a mastectomy. Known as the skin-sparing mastectomy, this technique preserves the natural contour of the breast and minimizes scarring. His expertise in breast surgery includes improved results in breast lifts, breast augmentation and breast reductions as well as reconstruction.
Most recently, Dr. Bensimon has perfected a new technique in the burgeoning area of vaginal cosmetic surgery, called the contour preserving labiaplasty. This procedure is used to correct embarrassing deformities, childbirth injuries and excessive labia minora tissue. Adapting the artful approach he employs in complex and delicate eyelid surgery, Dr. Bensimon's technique preserves the natural contours of the complex labial folds while carefully placing all incisions to give the most natural looking result with a more gentle recovery. His approach differs sharply from the more common practice of merely amputating excess skin. He regularly collaborates with his colleague at Pearl Women's Center, specialized gynecologic surgeon Richard Rosenfield, MD in complex pelvic floor reconstructions.
